  • Yield: Serves 3-4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of cinnamon roll bread (or cinnamon swirl bread)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
  • Powdered sugar, maple syrup, and fresh berries for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

2. Soak the Bread:

  • Dip each slice of cinnamon roll bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Allow the bread to soak for about 30 seconds to absorb the flavors.

3. Preheat the Skillet:

  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter. Allow the butter to melt and become slightly bubbly.

4. Cook the French Toast:

  • Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Avoid overcrowding the skillet.

5. Serve:

  • Transfer the cooked French toast to a serving plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and add fresh berries if desired.

Notes

  • For Extra Indulgence: Top with a cream cheese glaze by mixing 1/4 cup cream cheese, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, and 1-2 tablespoons milk until smooth.
  • Make Ahead Tip: Prepare the egg mixture the night before to save time in the morning.
  • Storage: Store leftover French toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster for the best results.
