  • Yield: Serves 2-3 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of thick bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • Butter or cooking spray (for greasing)
  • Powdered sugar, maple syrup, and fresh berries for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

2. Soak the Bread:

  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side. Ensure the bread absorbs the mixture well but is not overly soggy.

3. Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for about 3-5 minutes.

4. Arrange Bread in Air Fryer:

  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket with butter or cooking spray.
  • Place the soaked bread slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if necessary.

5. Cook the French Toast:

  • Air fry at 370°F (188°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the French toast is golden brown and cooked through.

6. Serve:

  • Remove the French toast from the air fryer and serve immediately.
  • Top with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and add fresh berries for an extra treat.

Notes

  • Bread Choice: Thick bread works best as it holds up well to the egg mixture and creates a fluffy texture.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to retain crispiness.
  • Optional Add-Ins: Add a tablespoon of orange zest or a splash of orange juice to the egg mixture for a citrus twist.
